McDonald's
A fast-food chain that began in the United States in the 1940s, centered on hamburgers, which grew through franchising into the world's largest restaurant brand.
McDonald's Filet-O-Fish was Cincinnati franchisee Lou Groen's idea after Lenten Fridays crushed hamburger sales in his Catholic neighborhood. Founder Ray Kroc resisted but pitted it against his own 'Hula Burger' — Filet-O-Fish won 350 to 6 and went nationwide.

From 1989 to 2001, almost every high-value winner of McDonald's' 'Monopoly' game was fake. The contractor's security chief stole pieces and sold them through a network of mobsters, psychics and others. The FBI arrested him in 2001; over 50 people were later convicted of fraud.
