Flamingo

A flamingo's pink feathers aren't its natural color. Flamingos hatch gray; they turn pink as carotenoid pigments from the brine shrimp and algae they eat build up in their bodies. Without these pigments in their diet, their feathers fade back toward a pale white.

There are more plastic Flamingos in the world than real ones. Designed by Don Featherstone in 1957, the iconic pink Plastic lawn ornament has sold over 20 million copies, while wild Flamingo populations across all six species total only about 3–4 million Birds.
