Subway Surfers
A mobile endless-runner game released in 2012 by the Danish studios Kiloo and SYBO, in which the player dashes along subway tracks dodging obstacles. It is counted among the most-downloaded mobile games ever.
On TikTok, creators layer completely unrelated 'Subway Surfers' gameplay under other videos. Whenever a viewer's attention drifts, their eyes just flick to the other panel instead of swiping away, so adding an irrelevant clip actually makes people watch longer.
