Quantum mechanics

Quantum mechanics is the framework of physics used to describe matter and energy at atomic and subatomic scales. It deals with phenomena including superposition and the probabilistic nature of measurement outcomes.
Schrödinger's cat was made to criticize quantum mechanics, not explain it. In 1935, Erwin Schrödinger argued that the Copenhagen interpretation absurdly leaves an everyday cat both alive and dead. His critique became quantum theory's best-known illustration.

Migratory birds may ‘see’ Earth’s magnetic field. In European robins, the eye protein cryptochrome 4 changes its electron-spin chemistry under magnetic fields when lit. A 2021 Nature study showed it is magnetically sensitive, linking bird navigation to quantum mechanics.
