Polar bear

A polar bear's fur isn't white. Each hair is hollow, transparent keratin, and the skin beneath is jet black. It looks white because air pockets in the hairs scatter every colour of sunlight. The clear fur traps light and the black skin absorbs its heat, keeping the bear warm.
