Kelp
A large brown alga that grows attached to rock in cold seas, widely used as an umami ingredient for soups and broths.
Sea otters sleep floating on their backs and hold paws so the current won't drift them apart. A group linked this way is called a "raft," sometimes hundreds strong. With no partner, an otter wraps kelp around its body to anchor itself as it sleeps.
