Guinea pig
A domesticated rodent native to the Andes of South America, belonging to the cavy family and widely kept for food, as a pet, and as a laboratory animal.
In Switzerland, owning one guinea pig is illegal. A 2008 animal welfare law treats them as social animals and requires at least two. When one dies, businesses even rent out a temporary companion so the survivor isn't left alone.
