Convergent evolution
An evolutionary pattern in which distantly related organisms independently acquire similar traits under comparable environmental pressures. It produces structures such as the wings of birds and bats, alike in function but different in origin.
A koala's fingerprints are nearly indistinguishable from ours, even under a microscope. Koalas and humans split long ago, yet both grip branches and evolved the same prints—convergent evolution. The claim they fooled detectives is undocumented.
