Quebec, Canada has a strategic Maple syrup reserve. Producers store barrels to stabilize supply and prices after weak harvests. In 2011-2012, thieves stole about 2,700 tonnes from the reserve, worth C$18.7 million.

Hawaiian pizza was invented not in Hawaii but in Canada, by a Greek immigrant. In 1962, Sam Panopoulos topped a pizza with canned pineapple in Ontario, inspired by sweet-and-sour Chinese cooking. He named it after a pineapple brand—so it has nothing to do with Hawaii.

A camel's hump stores fat, not water — and evolved for the Arctic, not the desert. 3.5 million years ago, ancestors in Arctic Canada grew fat-storing humps to survive winters. When they migrated south, the hump proved equally useful in the desert.
