The nuclear-explosion scenes in Oppenheimer (2023) were filmed with real fire, not CGI. The crew mixed gasoline and propane with aluminum and magnesium powder for brightness, then detonated scaled-down models right in front of the camera to fake a towering mushroom cloud.
